mind you, the brunt of these incarcerated people are citizens of the US. Albeit, many SHOULD be incarcerated, but the majority of them are behind bars for crimes that were ethnically motivated. The Mann act is still on the books as a manner of protecting "innocent" women from having their virtue compromised. It was one of those laws to target individuals when somebody wanted to put the screws to an otherwise productive member of society. Take the recent presidential pardon of Jack Johnson: The first African-American boxer to ever hold a championship title. It upset a lot of folks during the Jim Crow era. Johnson had a penchant for marrying, or dating (gasp) white women! He was convicted of violating the Mann Act, even though the incident he was convicted of occurred prior to the passing of the legislation.

Any number of "righteous" laws have been passed over the centuries targeting and oppressing US citizens. Ever wonder why marijuana is a Schedule I "drug" in it's natural form?

And since the prison system started being privatized in the 1980s, you'll notice that the number of incarcerations has increased Dramatically: many of them an offshoot of bigoted laws against minorities to help keep those prisons full. Sorry to throw this at you, but our government targets US citizens as much as it does illegal aliens. Actually, moreso than illegal aliens.

That's also what many citizens were aiming at. Note that, ofttimes, those with the money to pay for protection get, at worse case scenario, a lighter sentence. Brock Turner comes to mind. For rape, he got off with a 6 month incarceration, but was released after only 3 months.AFAIK, he still has the 3 years probation and is now a registered sex offender. Hell, OJ was behind bars longer before the jury found him not guilty.

Our legal system is one that is aimed against those with little or no power, be you a kid caught smoking weed or a non-citizen trying to raise a family.
