Thanks, I think he was in my life because of how it happened. He taught me so much and I rescued him from a horrible state. I was abused and so was he so we were kinda like soul brothers. Thanks for replying.

You'll recognize it from the 70's. It's a beautiful song and your rabbit sentiment is similar to Shannon swimming out to sea in her after-life, finding an island with a shady tree - just like the one in her backyard.

This one gets to me every time. The lyrics, the imagery, the high notes in the chorus - everything about it. The song puts me right there with Shannon and her loss. I tend to loop it endlessly every few years.

The funny part is he was best friend was a rabbit called Houdini and a cat named Jill. He was such a layed back dog and could not hurt anything. He was beaten and malnourished when we got him. He had almost no fur and just shook for weeks before he would even acknowledge me. It took months to get to a point of being accepted and loved my my family. Thanks for the song too. Dogs just become part of your life and take a little of you when they pass. I hope to be ready to get a dog soon but needs to be right.
