It's amazing what the worth of a penny used to be. My dad came from a very poor family, so they never went to the movies as a group, but he did get to go on his own. He told me that most people paid for their ticket with a dime, so then they were given a penny as change. He would then ask them if he could have their penny. When he had enough, he would buy his ticket. I always thought it was a sad but cute story. :-)
