And this is what I mean:

I don't know if it is just me, but when it comes to posting a meme comment on someone's meme, you're kinda stuck with the popular memes or the templates you uploaded. I know some people want to have certain templates, but they don't wanna re-upload an already existing template. So what if there was an option to upload a template privately?

Unless this is a thing that I am missing, let me know. Also, tell me your thoughts about it. Just thought i'd offer a topic of discussion about this too.

I know how to upload templates publicly, so I don't need to know how to do that. I'm basically suggesting a feature to upload a template privately.

What I posted are the steps to make an image into your own template, accessible by simply tapping "My Templates" option right next to "Popular Memes"
Those are available for anyone else to use as well.

If you mean unavailable to others, no option here. The closest would be to give it an odd title using words or even gibberish that won't turn up in searches.

If you don't want to upload an image to start out a creation, one way around the limit of the popular templates and "My Templates" that come up in the meme generator is to add an image inside your starting template. That could be ANY existing template (or you could upload your own image and stretch it over the starting template). I found this short YouTube tutorial. https://youtu.be/yknvAIBi5Lg

Thanks for the work around, good to know that is a way of doing it. But yeah, I really don't wana re-upload, for example, "I too live dangerously" as a public template when that is already there. If it was a private template, that would be cool.

I agree there are too many duplicate user contributed templates out there. I think your idea is a good one, a way of reducing duplicate templates has some efficiency for the site and would have some benefits for some users.

I suggest practicing with the "add image inside" method, you will find that you can make meme comments with any existing template (you need to know ahead of time the name of the template you want to use) or by using your own images. You will find you won't need to create any new (or duplicate) templates, and it's a fairly quick method.
