A common retort by the Gun Grabbers is that our Founding Fathers, when including the 2nd into the Bill of Rights, couldn't have dreamt the kind of arms that would come in the future; the kind far more effective and destructive than the ones they've used. Thus, had they've known they would've limited what citizens could own in order to save lives.
Well, the problem is that the argument ignores the reason why the 2nd Amendment was there in the first place.
While there's no arguing that an AR-15 is a far more advanced weapon than a Muzzle-Loader, the latter is the SAME WEAPON used by the Armed Forces while the former is NOT AN ASSAULT RIFLE that our military uses.
And as for the spirit for which it was written, it was NOT for the purposes of hunting or sport, but protection against TYRANNY. Have you forgotten that if it wasn't for the firearm, we would have never defeated Great Britain? Such was the value of arms that
