The idea of lawsuits reminds me of the great "I got burned by McDonald's hot coffee" incident. I watched that documentary. The lady who got burned had to have skin grafts and all kinds of various medical procedures. She didn't even walk away with enough to pay her medical bills.

I'd seen a bunch of headlines - that one went on for a while. In the end, McDonalds finally lowered the temperature of their coffee.

I think she started out with 3 or four million, but McD's has better lawyers. Sad, all around. At least other people will be spared the same burns, both physical and legal.

Did they they keep it that hot to save money? Less coffee made throughout the day?

Coffee brewed at 200°F (give or take a bout 3°F) has better flavor. Less sour or bitterness. Also it will burn the crotch out of anyone who pisses you off if you leave the lid loose. ;)

When the initial verdict was publicized, they didn't mention the severity of the burns. Just that "some lady sued a big corp. for millions". I always thought she had her medical costs covered in the end.
