It's a fair question.

I don't think I have ever seriously labeled anything as a repost.

Me neither, it's all just a bit of fun.
And also to make sure everyone isn't just going "Repost" on literally everything

I think an actual repost is the same image and caption unchanged. HOWEVER... this whole thing had me going back and forth to decide upon my opinion. I first thought reposts were fine, then some here got me thinking they weren't, and yet again I have been swayed. Reposts are not bad. In fact reposting is exactly what makes a meme, a meme.They are meant to be circulated, much like jokes used to be back in the old days. I think if someone takes and idea from someones memes they should credit the person. But reposting is what makes a meme. The actual definition of a meme is" meme
