VULCANS NEVER BLUFF | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
My all time second favorite quotation from Star Trek ("Vulcans never bluff" being my first)

From one of my favorite episodes. I can still remember part of the soundtrack.

Decker's son was the original Captain in ST: The Motion Picture, until Kirk got on board. ;-)

Another classic quotation from "Devil In The Dark". Now I'll have to go check out Star Trek: The Motion Picture

THE HORTA SALUTES YOU! | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
It's a classic episode...but aren't they all? :)

Spock's Brain... Abraham Lincoln... the Gorn... Half whiteface/half black... Lazarus... Landru... I am Keerock!

Pon Farr... Nomad (same prop used for the Romulan Cloaking Device), McCoy had a baby named after him in one. I think the episode with the white gorilla with a horn. And the doggie with a horn (transporter split him into good and bad doggies).

Evil spirit(s) inhabit the ship and require happiness to scare away... a couple of kid episodes (Miriam) and who could forget Jack the Ripper on Rigel Four!

Spock goes back in time to meet a cave-woman, the salt-sucking creature that didn't like green blood, Zephram Cochran and his Companion, The mute Empath cures Bones of terminal injuries and dies from it - there are almost too many to list.

Even William Shatner jokes about the sets and makeup in his books. He said every other week he had to fight someone wearing a rubber suit with Styrofoam boulders.

But that City On the Edge of Forever. Oh boy. Now THAT is a classic. ;-)

And of course Opie's little brother as Balok. I heard Clint Howard say that the "trania" was actually pink grapefruit juice and he made a face every time he drank it. His dad took him aside and told him he was a professional actor and that he had to stop making a face no matter how terrible it was. :)

bt,

Now THAT is news to me - and greatly appreciated!

In return, I humbly offer you this gem:

Just kidding. Let me know what you think when you're done.

And if you're a good memer - I'll send you some more goodies.

But this one will always be up in the nosebleed section.

As you will see, it's hard to beat.

Still, I've got your next treats all lined up for you.

Because I KNOW you're gonna be a good memer! ;-p

I think she's the same actress that played Bat Girl in the 60's.

Green was the color of Orion slave gals, if I remember correctly.

Great call...the actress that played Batgirl was Yvonne Craig and I'm pretty sure she was the green alien in the Garth episode
1 up, 7y,

I think so too. There was another green lady elsewhere played by another actress.

Did Yvonne Craig get blown up in that episode?
1 up, 7y,
1 reply
Yep, Lord Garth planted a crystal of his explosive in her neck and blowed her up to show Captain Kirk how powerful it was. The other green lady often appeared as a still in the closing credits. :)
1 up, 7y,
1 reply
So did Balok's mannequin. At least for the first season. I think they swapped out some of the closing credits pictures when Chekov arrived.

Funny thing is, Khan Noonien Singh told Chekov, "I never forget a face" in ST II, but Space Seed was a first season episode; pre-Chekov.

And Genesis is planet forbidden. ;-)

Ha! I forgot that line. Thanks for bringing it back into memory.

Remember, Ceti Alpha Six exploded. Khan was on Ceti Alpha Six.

When Mindy asked Mork about Ork's nearest planet, he said they weren't very good neighbors. They exploded.

Just like the drummer in Spinal Tap. ;-p

We already ran out of thread - this response (mine) belongs down there...

However, that won't stop me from noting the quality quotes you've contributed.

Good sh!t, all around.

But we're gonna need a new comment group to continue. Unless THIS response allows more.

Hopefully, at least they will line up

You know how hard it can be to make sense of what happens ;-)

SCTV? Look how young they are!

Remember Guy Cabellero? And that lady with the pointy glasses who couldn't speak English?

At the time, it was the next best thing to SNL. And sometimes even better.

Take off, man! ;-p

Yes, Edith Prickley! Every one of them was great. Remember when Harold Ramis put his hand in the microwave oven?

I met a couple of the actors in a record store when I bought the 'Great White North' album (with Geddy Lee of Rush on it).

Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis signed my album and were very nice.

Of course, this was before Spaceballs! :-)
1 up, 7y
Wow, someone that remembers Harold Ramis was part of the original cast. Each one of them was awesome in their own right, one of my all time favorite shows. We saw Rush on their farewell tour and they played a clip of Mel's Rock Pile, I couldn't believe my eyes. That's awesome meeting Bob And Doug...jealous :)

Maybe the best thing to do is just start a new thread. Loved Bob and Doug in fact I think I started to talk a little bit like them. I travelled around The South Pacific and I was often asked what part of Canada I was from (even from Canadians)...should be able to watch the show and give a report later today :)

Saw the movie, that was awesome. I had to watch it in pieces so I lost a little continuity, but it was great. I didn't realize that Janice was Yeoman Rand until I read the credits!...Thank you so much! :)

But CBS shut them down due to copyright issues.

Absolutely loved it!!! It was as close to watching an original Star Trek episode as possible. Where dId you find this?
1 up, 7y,
1 reply
Which one? If it was the second (Apollo), it's part of a fan created homage series called Star Trek Continues. You'll find a playlist on YouTube.

And if you liked that, you will LOVE Star Trek Phase II - another series of fan-created episodes. I think they have a Koenig/Chekov episode in there, as well as Takei/Sulu - definitely worth a look at both series. These pre-date the 'Continues' series.

Phase II was originally called Star Trek New Voyages, and you can see them getting better each time. Many of the production crew and actors were from the actual TV show(s). When they got very good, they renamed it to Phase II, after Roddenberry's name for a sequel. It later became Star Trek The Next Generation.

You might get a kick out of a Lou Ferigno episode of 'Continues' - he's an Orion slaver (green). It reminds me of your Incredible Spock mash-up. Anyway, the episode is named after Lolani, the green slave girl who the story is about. I liked it more than the Apollo episode and I think you might also.

I'd recommend taking a look at the episode descriptions of both (actually all three) series and just dive in at your favorite spot.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Did you see Prelude to Axanar? That was made VERY well. It was a big let down when CBS clamped down.

There are a lot of fan-based Treks on YouTube. These were the best I've seen.

Instead of hammering you with links, I'll let you explore them on your own. Part of the fun - for me, anyway, was discovering them and waiting for new episodes to be released.

I'll have to go back myself and catch the new episodes.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Fun fact - last week Willam Shatner visited the set of 'Phase II' which is an EXACT replica of the Enterprise from the 1960's. He said it WAS exact. Google it for more info and to see his tweet. The tweet mentions Elvis. He's referring to the 'New Voyages' and 'Phase II' actor who played Kirk and built it. His name is James Cawley. He despised J.J.'s new ship design (2009), but J.J. still gave him a part in the movie. I thought that was great.

Anyway, Cawley is (or was) an Elvis impersonator. You're gonna love his Kirk 'body language'. Enjoy!

Thanks! The Apollo episode had me mesmerized. It had a feel very much like the original Star Trek. I never really warmed up to most of the various Star Trek spinoffs (kinda like Adam West vs. all the rest). Not to knock them, but I cut my teeth on Styrofoam rocks. I saw the first Star Trek by J. J. Abrams with my son when it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it doesn't have the same feeling as the original. I don't have a lot of spare time so I'll have to check all this out as the opportunities present themselves...thanks again! :)

No prob. Glad I could help with the Trek info.

I forgot to mention, Walter Koenig said the Chekov episode on New Voyages/ (or Phase II) was his favorite of his entire career as Chekov.

Which reminds me: John Fiedler said something similar about his role in Wolf In the Fold. In this 1967 TV episode, Scotty was accused of murder. It was the 'Jack the Ripper' episode. John Fiedler played the bad guy (as well as voicing Winnie the Poo back then). He said that episode was his career favorite - and he did a LOT of work.

OK, I won't bore you with more trivia. Live long and prosper. :-)
1 up, 7y
Not at all...John Fiedler was in one of my favorite movies (The Odd Couple) as well as one of my favorite sitcoms (The Bob Newhart Show) and I certainly remember that episode of Star Trek :)
1 up, 7y
Almost forgot - I'm glad you liked the movie - this one was made well. :-)

The Fesarius took a few hits there. The First Federation makes quality ships, to take that amount of damage and stay in one piece. :-)
