Too many nasty and just not funny memes on front page!

When I started here it was a ton of right-wing memery on the front page. It tailed off, but now it just seems a bunch of clueless people and then reactions from the elite. I actually haven't checked the front pages for over a month. Not necessarily because of the mentioned reason as much as I've got kinda used to talking to the memers I'm most comfortable with. And trying to catch up with my notifications.

Yeah, some kid probably thinks he's come up with something brilliant, and there's a lot of newbies out there who likely think it's original, so if they vote for it what am I to say about it? When I was first on here I'm sure I voted for stuff that probably had been done two or three times in the years leading up. And that unknowing repost may very well have been done by someone who is now also a grizzled vet and might be complaining about the newbies reposting. :P Very lttile humor is 100% original.

With billions of people worldwide even your most esoteric joke has probably popped up in someone's mind, even if they didn't express it. Part of the reason I choose to do noise; actually play music and there's a likelihood someone has come veeeerrry close to that riff, or lyric, but who's gonna come close to what I squeeze out of oscillators, loopers and effects pedals? That, and I don't need talent. :D

That's the whole feel I was trying to get with Remote Cave Complex - so, thanks. :) All I used was a dual oscillator with choke and gain knobs hooked into a reverb pedal set on 'modulate'. Almost everything else has a half dozen devices run through all kinds of sh!t, and samples I muck up in various ways. The voices you can hear in the background of Bucharest come from a Romanian documentary on Ceaucescu's trial and execution back during the collapse of communist Eastern Europe (thus why you should never drop your soap :D). On Osaka I used samples of Japanese girls laughing layered with a Tojo speech from World War II, then on the other loop actual sounds from a nuclear bomb test (you can hear them more clearly at the end of the track). And yes that was 3 or 4 Moroccan songs layered with sounds of cars driving by on 'Prison'. :) The title comes from a Jeremy Clarkson line in Top Gear. ;) Anyway, thanks for the listen. Did you catch the title of the second track on 'Rebirth of the Harsh'? It may have been influenced by discussions with someone. XD

I'm recording tracks for a release for our kv&gr label, and then I think I'll work on 'Clop Collection' for that Swedish extreme music label. :)

Technical??? XD XD XD The reason I use all those pedals and effects boxes is because I have no technical nous. That, and it's more fun to go analog. Some noise artists do it all on their computers, but that cuts down on the improvisation and, I believe, creativity. It's really not all that technical. Primarily I use a looper pedal to layer sounds that I later f#ck up with pedals and other means, or I use one of the half-dozen noise-making devices I have like the oscillator above. (Or even on some Danshoku Dino, my partner actually plays guitar, bass, or drums.) The only skill involved is listening to the noise you put out and reacting to it.

I'll have the new album up on the kv&gr Bandcamp site this weekend, then will start on 'Clop Collection' next week. Probably two long, really harsh tracks. ;)

The two boxes on the right are oscillators that make sounds on their own. The bigger blue box on the lower left is an echo/looper control device that I often use to make sounds cascade over on themselves. The smaller black box on the left is a TASCAM 4-track that I use to record and mix with. All the other items are basically pedals guitarists would use during performances, pushing them with their feet while playing. I use them in the same way, only not using my feet. :)

Not too complicated. :)

XD You should be satisfied I don't just set fire to my equipment and throw it and record that. XD

A loop pedal just allows a guitarist to record sound before hand that they can play along to later, usually during live performance. For noiseniks it's great for using as sound sources to run through pedal chains (pedals hooked together) to usually render unidentifiable by the time we're through. The Boss loop stations were surprisingly easy to learn to use, and this coming from a guy not known for his patience. I'm planning on recording a harsh noise track tonight so I loaded a track on one looper with sounds of Ukrainian rioting, and on the other sounds from hurricane Irma. I'll record onto two tracks on my 4-track mixer, each track run through a pedal chain and mucked-up, to merge on the mixer. Sounds technical but this is all a hell of a lot easier than driving a big-a$$ semi through traffic. ;)

After recording the track one needs to make sure that one part of the track isn't higher in volume or tone than other parts, so it's best to listen and set the track settings to modulate it. Also it's finding what settings sound best overall. With my noise it's not really a big deal to make sure every point sounds perfect - XD XD - so basically I'll check here and there and then when I have the settings like I like it I let it record to a master track that I listen to on my computer. Mostly it's an issue of volume; in my case I've had the tracks not loud enough, so I usually just put the track in an open-source program called Audacity and push the decibels up. Mostly I use the TASCAM to record and not get too anal about the settings. ;)
