How about waiters and waitresses? There bosses are allowed to drastically underpay them. Almost everyone else gets a minimum wage if necessary. Must be nice... to keep all the profits! ;-p

Tips. tips, tips. Some restaurants pool all the tips and redistribute them equally among staff.
In the old system, the waiter got the tip and kicked back some of it to the rest of the staff.

Every other industry includes salaries in the cost of the final product.

And to make it even worse, some people never tip (or leave pennies when they're upset).

This system has to go!

No one is required to tip. But receiving one is a good indication of satisfaction with the service.

Agreed. I always give extra for good service.

Tips are for good table service; however once in a while I see places with tip jars where there is only over-the-counter service: ice-cream stores for example. How about Starbucks? The change is so small, I let them have it.

Cash? I remember it, but no longer use it. All transactions and tips are digital for me now.

What do you do at Starbucks, assuming you go there?

I haven't been to Starbucks in a long time... can't even remember when. Maybe once in the last year or two.

To tip, or not to tip?

I don't remember tipping, to be honest. I might have, but without a specific memory, I don't want to BS you.
