Hey now, it's not his fault he got royally screwed by his User. The guy was literally trying to do the impossible. It's the plot of most sci-fi and/or fantasy movies: Humans screw everything up, even their own creations, and it results in somebody getting hella pissed off and a lot of people dying.

Besides that, he's a sentient digital lifeform who doesn't know what that term means.

"..create the perfect system." Flynn, you dick! Humans have known for centuries that perfection is impossible, because it has no concrete definition. Perfection is based on someone's opinion, and everyone's idea of perfect is different. Dammit, Flynn, none of this would've happened if you'd just said "create a system that works efficiently and meets the basic needs of everyone on it."
