Trying to follow the plot of the show while reading subtitles actually detracts from my enjoyment of the anime. I just finished reading Everyday Life With Monster Girls, and caught up and followed the entire ReLife webcomic to the end. In Another World With My Smartphone, I read most of the Manga version I could find, then dug in and found the light novel. Ranma 1/2 was a good series that I've also read the manga, as well as have most of the series on DVD.
All of these, and more, I've watched dubbed. I actually lost interest in Fairy Tail when I watched it on Hulu because only the first three seasons were dubbed. The remainder were subtitled. Hulu, at the time, didn't want to carry the entire series dubbed, so I lost interest in the anime, then dropped Hulu.
