There was a kid in my school and he was wearing a Metallica shirt one day and I could look at him and immediately know the only Metallica song he knows is Enter Sandman.

Wanna know the worst thing? Metallica stole the main riff of the song from this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=letLBUrt7yA And they have stolen a whole lot of songs they're known for.YouTube is literally fillled with "Metallica ripped off a song/riff from *insert band here*"

Wow, I hear it now. Back then, they wouldn't tell people that Am I Evil? was originally written by Diamond Head. Diamond Head is very underrated and a lot of people hadn't heard of them back then.
