You probably have an entire arsenal of Assault Rifles in your basement. More guns is not the answer, and i'm sorry you don't think that way, because people are getting killed. CHILDREN are getting killed. There have been approximately 15 school shootings since Jan 1st, 15. But you don't care, you just want to keep your guns so you can "Defend" yourself.

Your argument completely misses the point of the meme. Sure, tons of "assualt rifles" in the basement won't help, but put a gun in the hands of people at a school and many could be criminals will be too scared to shoot up a school.

Dude, I learned punctuation in first grade, maybe you should sharpen up your skills. "Guyz"? I learned how to spell in kindergarten. Maybe you should get a crash course on spelling to. No wonder your 'sentence' (if you can call them that) structure sux, guy.

I was replying to Silica. If you saw yourself in "Libtarded snowflake," then that's on you.

Most teachers are whatever party they choose to be in. Myopic views of monolithic voting blocks are not only overly simplistic and thusly potentially misleading, they caused Hillarat Clinton a sure election.

You can't say something about someone and then reply that it's there fault, just because they recognized that you were speaking to them. Honestly, I disagree with this. The main argument right now is to remove assault-style guns which are literally only used for, as the name says, assault. I'm fine with keep PDWs or hunting rifles, but how in the world are AR-15s legal? You should've stated that somewhere. Otherwise, you're misrepresenting the gun control advocates. We want gun control, not the utter removal of guns.
reply
5 ups, 2 replies
You realize AR means Armalite rifle right? What designates a weapon an assault rifle is that it has a fully automatic fire mode. AR-15s don't have a automatic fire mode.
reply
3 ups, 1 reply
The problem with gun control is this: under whose control are the guns? Who do you trust enough to control all the guns? Obama? Trump? The Pope? The idea of the Second is to make gun ownership so ubiquitous as to make forceful government oppression impractical. That should not be misconstrued as that I'm not open to compromise. However, so far there has been no talk of compromise from the left.

Semi-automatic AR-15s for sale to civilians are internally different from the full automatic M16 (which is the military grade version of the AR-15) , although nearly identical in external appearance. The hammer and trigger mechanisms are of a different design. The bolt carrier and internal lower receiver of semi-automatic versions are milled differently, so that the firing mechanisms are not interchangeable.

Near were I live, this woman was shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot. She owned, and was carrying a gun. She didn't even get a chance to draw it out and shoot. More guns is not the answer to gun violence. If we can't ban all access to guns for civilians, the least we can do is raise the age, and ban all Assault Rifles and Pistols.
reply
6 ups, 3 replies
Why do you want to ban everything but shotguns and bolt-action rifles? Because that's basically what you're saying. I can't take down a criminal with one shot. I can't aim that well, and neither can most gun owners. In order for people to actually protect themselves, they're going to need more than a hunting rifle. But now you also said that you would like to ban all guns. Tell me exactly how criminals are going to follow laws? Also, Your story is just that: a story. A single anecdote that proves nothing. I can give you countless other examples where civilians have defended against an armed assailant with a pistol or semi-automatic weapon.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
Are teachers going to be carrying more than a hunting rifle in the classroom? And if not, how do we avoid collateral damage when most gun owners can't even aim that well?

A pistol would be enough for teachers. Gun owners are a good enough aim to not cause too much collateral damage, but they aren't sharpshooters and definitely can't reload before a criminal takes them down.

I'm not sure about 18 to join the military either. But if you did decide to go that route, you could say 18 to join and use weapons *under supervision,* but get once out needing to be 25 to buy them for unsupervised use. You can always re-up, if you choose. The reasoning behind this comes from the revelation that the human brain continues to develop until the mid twenties. You really want weapons in the hands of people whose minds are not fully developed?

For some reason I can’t reply to isonsite... anyways

You make no sense iaonsite. You bring up arguments that are option based and face a complete ignorance for the facts. Get some facts. You’re the equivalent of Alex Jones for the left.

I honestly don't know what else I'd want from this country. And before you say that I might want less shootings, bear in mind that we hear fairly often about bombings in Europe. You really think you live better than me and many other people in this country? You're wrong. I bet we will live fairly similar lives. In fact, I bet that many people here will live very similar lives to you.

I love how you think that gun laws make a country civilized. Was your country still some kind of murder free utopia when bombs, acid, and cars were used against innocent civilians? When it comes to gun control, you pick your poison. I'll pick the one that lets me defend against those that do harm.

By allowing a gun owner's freedom, we are taking away the freedoms of children. How free are the children who suffered in Sandy Hook, by the way?

Well then let's go after swimming pools first. By allowing affluent people to have the freedom of owning a swimming pool we are losing over 3500 people per year. From the Centers for Disease Control "From 2005-2014, there were an average of 3,536 fatal unintentional drownings (non-boating related) annually in the United States — about ten deaths per day. Talk about dangerous ! Of course, there is no mention whether these were automatic pools, semi-automatic pools or hunting pools. In any case, they kill more people than rifles of ANY type do. Including more children.

If it was the Mandalay Bay swimming pool that killed 60 people and injured over two hundred over the course of one hour we would be having a conversation about that. Or if it was the Parkland school's swimming pool that killed 17 students...

We have, for the kind used here.

On account of Timothy McVeigh's truck bomb, the buying of excessive amounts of fertilizer by none farmers is regulated and checked.

By your logic, a burst fire assualt rifle is more dangerous than a shower firing full automatic one like an HK.
reply

*slower
Sure, an HK kills more people than a burst, but because it does so in a longer period of time than a burst it's not as dangerous.

I was asking how free the children in the Sandy Hook incident were, to which you responded with a Red herring. Nice argument.

Since you brought it, let's entertain it. Usually if someone drowns, it's their own fault. However, if someone is shot by a gun and killed, who's fault is it? The victim's, or the gunner's?

You're bringing up a red WHALE. If saving lives were your true objective than you would go after swimming pools, motorcycles, blunt objects (such as hammers), doctors, pharmaceutical companies...ALL of which kill more per year than rifles of ANY type, semi-auto or not. So admit why you want to ban guns. There are only two reasons for it. An irrational fear of an inanimate object, or a desire to disarm the populace as a means to subjugate them. Which is it? If you truly believe disarming the populace works in a Democracy than I encourage you to move to Mexico, El Salvador, or Guatemala and experience how free those children are since semi-auto's have been banned.

"You're bringing up a red WHALE."

You don't even know what a Red Herring is, do you?

"If saving lives were your true objective than you would go after swimming pools, motorcycles, blunt objects (such as hammers), doctors, pharmaceutical companies...ALL of which kill more per year than rifles of ANY type, semi-auto or not. "

Generally I'm up for saving the lives of people from attacks caused by other people with intent.

"So admit why you want to ban guns."

Show me exactly where I said I wanted to ban guns. I don't want to ban guns, just make access a lot harder.

"There are only two reasons for it."

That's a very black and white way of looking it; Sandy Hook made it clear that there are well over 26 reasons someone would want to "ban guns".

"If you truly believe disarming the populace works in a Democracy than I encourage you to move to Mexico, El Salvador, or Guatemala and experience how free those children are since semi-auto's have been banned."

And there goes another Red Herring; let's turn the conversation to Spanish-speaking countries.

We do have laws trying to prevent texting while driving, as well as an alcohol limit during driving. Sadly, none of the laws are followed.

Oh, but people WILL follow new laws restricting gun ownership? Hilarious. Here you have just admitted that laws don't work if people are set to defy them. So explain to me how passing said laws against drinking or texting are not working but laws against gun ownership will?
