So let me get this straight. "Gamers " started getting paranoid about so called "SJWs" coming in to censor their favorite video games. This gave rise to Gamergate... TM; Which helped popularize the alt right... Which helped elect Trump to the presidency... Which in turn lead to another pointless tirade of censorship against violent video games. If this isn't a self fufilling prophecy, than I don't know what is.
