In my school, I am part of a group that's called Live Unified which stops derogatory words like retarded because that is offensive to people who are truly retarded (with the condition). So please have empathy to others and stop using this awful word.

Okay, all of you, it's time to calm it. PolaBear shared the link to this meme on another website we both use, and I have to say, she's right on this one. That word, which I am not going to say, equals intellectually disabled with "stupid". Intellectual/developmental disability is a condition not an insult. (fine, I'm copying these sentences from the internet but that doesn't mean they aren't true!) And people should focus on abilities not disabilities. Everyone deserves respect and that word should never be used.
