Ban Assault Weapons

Do you really think that banning assault rifles will magically make all criminals turn in their assault rifles? And after banning, who do you think will be left with assault rifles? Criminals or the law abiding people?

Then what do you propose we do?

Creating millions of outlaws ain't gonna end well, but I suppose that's the idea all along? Then we can put all those pesky deplorables where they belong ,eh .

Guns are different than drugs. A gun stops someone with a gun, but the same can not be said about drugs.

None. You wanna know why? Nobody would want to use hand grenades when they could use guns. If we had enacted these laws earlier in American history, there would be less guns and hand grenade killings would probably go down. However, enacting these laws now wouldn't help with jack shit.

I think that neither do. But the problem with gun laws is they have the nasty side affect of leaving law abiding people defenseless, unlike drug laws.

Where would I get a taser from? And for the 15 zillionth time, removing our assualt rifles will not remove criminal assualt rifles and therefore will only make people more defenseless.

Sure, you don't NEED automatic weapons to defend yourself, but you may be a really bad shot and need that extra fire rate or just overall prefer it. The .38 revolver and the AR-15 "assualt rifle" do the same thing: kill/injure. The only difference is how it does it. If the school shooter had a revolver, he would have still killed. In fact, he'd probably kill the same amount because of the lack of adversity he had. Banning assualt rifles and "assualt rifles" will just make people shoot with different things. In fact, almost 90% of all shootings are done with handguns.

While I agree that a semi-automatic weapon is excessive for civilian protection, I am not impressed by the way you have reinforced your claims on this site. Please be a little more careful about how you act around those trying to enjoy the site.
