Just my theory, I think they changed the way views are counted sometime after the Viral pages experiment ended mid January. I think in the older code, if a user scrolled by your meme in Latest or Hot, that counted as a view. Now views only count if a user "enters" your meme, ie where they can comment or reply. With the new system, a user can upvote you while scrolling past (without "entering") thus more upvotes than views are possible. Regardless of how views are counted now, I think there has always been a lag in the view count total, the number of views you see on the homepages seems to get updated on a schedule (like every 10-15 minutes) and not in real time.
