This sounds really stupid, but law enforcement has a "moral high ground," where if they have to lie or trick you to confess for something like murder, the ends justify the means. But however if you lie to law enforcement about not committing or taking part of murder or any other crime, that's a lot more serious. My point is that you shouldn't think that you are equal to them, because in situations where they have to lie to you to get a confession, you are already past the point where you have any right to not get lied to.
