While that plays well in the media, it doesn't pan out so well when analysed. Gerrymandering is a local state issue, not a National election issue. Each candidate wins a state based on popular vote, not through gerrymandered districts like local politicians. Also, I believe this election came down to how active or inactive the campaigns were. Hillary was told to visit the rust belt and campaign because her advisers new that there may be a possibility of these states swinging right. Trump went in to these states and swung the voters. His election win was based on playing the game by the established rules. Hillary just didn't campaign as hard and "seemed" to take her win as a given. Just my thoughts.
