True. It also depends how smart your kids are, and what age. I have a boy who is almost seven, but he is autistic, so his mental level is like a four yr, old. He can’t figure out most video games yet. But it’s also about parent monitoring. You can bet I’m going to be on him like white on rice when he’s a teen! ; )

I was diagnosed at age three. Doctors thought I wouldn't be mentally older than 18 months. They told my parents to put me in an institution. Turned out to be law school. Passed the CA Bar Exam...on the first try.
There's probably much more intelligence there than what is showing. Each kid learns in different ways. Just gotta find a way the kid likes to connect. I learned behaviors and how to do certain tasks by watching others, or by watching myself on VHS. My dad and I connected through watching NASCAR and riding a motorcycle.

Wow! That was very encouraging, man! Thanks for sharing! Yes, I think he is a lot smarter than he shows. The docs and psychologists aren’t very optimistic or encouraging at all, so it’s great whenever I talk to someone who has it or has worked with kids that have it. I will definitely check out your link. It’s great to hear people with autism who have found something they like and can excel and be successful at it.
