It was pretty cold (for L.A.) a few weeks ago. But the high pressure moved in behind the last storm (which washed away Montecito - but didn't quite put the fire out in Ventura), and it's been nice for a few days.
More storms on the charts...so if the weather holds - big beautiful surf. Otherwise, big, strong and stormy - with potentially rideable windows.

I’m from SoCal and miss the beach! Glad you get to surf!! What’s your favorite beach (for surfing)?
I have SOOOOoooo many favorites...where are we...what time is it...what's the tide and swell doing...? Almost ready...
It varies. But I have many faves, so I try to be zen and Jedi and very insynch about thingz... And then make the best option/itinerary for a given circumstances. I like big and/or ultra hollow and perfect...so whatever's clever in the moment, based on location timing and mobility...then you just have to know how to read the conditions to get the Best/Biggest spot(s) on the perfect window...
I went to College @ UCSD. So with a car and a swell - I would often attempt a Triple Crown Victory. Surfing 3 (or more) firing spots in 3 counties, in a single day. So AM high tide in LA would be Malbu. Then on to Wedge or Newport Point for mid-morning to mid-day, and then an early evening session at Big Rock or Casa (most likely - if any spot isn't on - you check local options to find the one that is...).
Low tide AM would mean Big Dume in LA...and Black's beach or Horseshoes in LJ (maybe S. Boomers for a bodysurf, on S swell).
I have a well-dog-earred copy of Bank Wright's - Surfing California, with check marks in the index next to the one's I've gotten to...not much Socal real estate left unchecked at this point.

Obviously I don’t surf or else I would’ve worded my question to you differently!! But—wow!!! You are living life to the fullest and I think that’s great!

Look at the frame in the picture - time stamped...
There is so much more documentation out there, that I've found and that I've yet to find - certainly, but start there. I'll go look for another.

This thread ran out of “reply” but wanted to tell you I’ll take a look once I’m back home. We were at Oceanside Friday and it looked like they were setting up for a competition—I always enjoy watching although the waves don’t ever seem to be too high there! Lol
I am very familiar with -OOOOhhhhCean-Cide! ... It has a great asset in the Trademarked "World Bodysurfing Championships". It has a nearby area -that would likely produce a contest even bordering upon on the grandeur of that title. But they hold it at O-side pier (in August), instead.
Not really crapping on their spot...itz super fun on a longboard or fish. It is consistent (and contests need that). But it is a slow enough wave that it requires a Special skill to ride it - much of the ride being a dolphin like-underwater affair at points - and then requiring explosive re-entrys to re-launch in the more powerful or hollow sections. Its also a huge swimming workout, prejudicing towards lifeguards, locals, and specialists.
Fun. But over in the base....a firing Beachbreak with an offshore canyon - always helps everything. It would be a fairer spot to decide such a thing. Pipeline had/has? a great contest and location. Some S.Shore spotz eould work well too. The Wedge in nearby Newport Beach is a world famous, snd obvious choice - but no contest (and seemingly no real desire for one - from the locals, or the city fathers. The guys who rip O-side, would mess themselves).
I got a close 2nd place at Puerto Escodido (a camyon break -"The Mexican Pipeline") in 1988. To this day - my favorite Contest ever. Except for the final. I'd like to go back and goon my style-up, just for an extra move/point per wave (like my opponent did). Style was a criteria too. A weak spinner on the take-off (just to milk an extra point...)nah don't need it - or so I thought; live and learn. :€)>
