You only need to use "an" if it's a vowel. Not trying to be a grammar nazi, just a piece of advice : )

Most people (at least in the U.S.) say the letter H as if it begins with a vowel sound, and that's why it would be seen as normal to write "an" in front of it.

If you pronounce the letter H differently, then I could see why you'd consider using the "a" form of the article instead.
