Not trolling, I just honestly don't understand & am looking for a reasonable explanation please.
The way that I understand it, animals that live & work together in groups, like wolves or lions, have an alpha (usually male, and I may be mistaken, some have female alphas).
If the alpha is strong/smart enough, the pride/pack thrives and survival of the fittest is fulfilled.
If the alpha fails, then he is challenged. If the challenger wins, he becomes the new alpha and hopefully the pride/pack thrives.
That's my understanding, do you have a different theory?
Although, it just occurred to me that perhaps you just have a problem with "male" in alpha male? As I said before, I think some mammals have female leaders, you definitely see females leading in bees and ants. Sometimes whales, dolphins, chimps?
