My youngest girl will be 39 this year, and she still uses the word "gooder". My late ex-wife always had a problem finding the right word, as well. My spelling is terrible, but my spoken words are generally correct for the location. I've studied a lot of regional dialects here in the US, and, while I am considered well spoken, I can easily slip into any dialect or accent when in a group of people with similar understandings.
You should hear my brother talk: a former mechanic, he never used the right word for 80% of his tools. "THIS is an Eaglebeak!" "That is a pair of Channellox!"
