I would like to share my presentation, which I have given orally, trying to get more support to change the classification of marijuana from a schedule one drug, to one that allows doctors nationwide to prescribe medical marijuana to veterans returning home with PTSD.
And if you would like to use any or all of it please feel free. Once again any and all support for this issue is greatly appreciated.
Good evening. Here I would appreciate your attention to an issue I think is important. And that I hope to gain some support for.
Here in California marijuana has been legal for medicinal use for a little over twenty years. But it's not that way everywhere in the country. Due to marijuana still being classified as schedule one, meaning it has no medical benefit.
Yet Marijuana has been found to be beneficial for treating many conditions, usually with less side effects than prescription treatments. And what about those who are unable to tolerate the side effects, or are allergic to prescription medication?
I am putting this perspective out for our veterans nationally. Because many return home having to make adjustments, due to their military service. One of those adjustments is having to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD, as a result of serving our country protecting our freedom.
And the connection is medical marijuana has been found to be beneficial to patients with PTSD. Yet because it is still classified as Schedule one drug, it is unable to be prescribed by doctors nationwide for veterans, who have come back from service with PTSD.
So here my request from you as well as all those listening is to please support this issue for our veterans. For they really do need our help and deserve another option in their struggles after they return.
Now I'd like to encourage everyone listening to bombard your local, state, and federal government representatives, by email, snail mail, phone call, fax, or carrier pigeon if necessary. To let them know that marijuana's classification needs to be changed. So medical marijuana can be prescribed by doctors nationwide to veterans suffering from PTSD.
Thank you for consideration of this issue. As well as any and all support for it.
Thank you again.
