that's awesome yea i was a sniper, however while deployed didnt to a whole lot of sniper operations, because I had a platoon and a squad that i was in charge of so I did all operations with them. But i a sure you have seen that movie the Americal sniper about chris kyle, My platoon did a bunch of operations with him in Sadr city Iraq, he was our snipe we had attached to us for our suport by fire element. You dont get much better of a sniper than that to have with you. But any way the part in the movie with that one enemy sniper, that particular sniper was responsible for 4 of the death in my company, and I was there when chris kyle shot that mother f**ker. We could not find him when when searched every building couldn't find him, but because that dude was dead set on killing chris kyle he made a fatal mistake that day. and lt me tell you that was a shot, he hit that dude from over 2000 meters it was a long enough shot to where he had to lead him by 15 feet and basically hope he kept walking in the same direction.

That is amazing Chad. I never seen the movie, which I feel stupid for saying, I need to watch and I wanted to see it in the theater. They say my wife's uncle had to survive on his own when his camp was wiped out while he was out on recon. I don't know how much the story was true. He had to hide for weeks, and try to get out. He never told many people what he did. So my story could be way off. But he was a tough man. He had 5 heart attacks, survived 3 different bouts with cancer. The last cancer surgery, they removed his trachea. He live another 3 or 4 years like that. He still had his wits, and funny side. He was just plain worn out at the end. My wife misses him a lot. He was the fun uncle. I so happy you shared that story with me. I'm watching that movie this weekend. I hope your weekend goes well.

damn im sorry to hear that about him, if those stories were from vietnam it was probably true, it was unfortunatley very common for whole platoons to get whiped out during that time, jungle warfare is so much different than in the desert you culd walk up on someone preparing to ambush you so easily in the jungle. Your wifes uncle had PTSD thats whyhe didnt talk about it much, same with me, I tell stories about being over there in iraq ad Afghanistan but i dont tell details, I cant even at the doctor it is hard for me to say it i can think all the time but I just cant say it, I think it has something to do with if you say it it make it real and if you just think about it maybe you can make it go away I dont know. I will tel you I have the most respect for those guys back then in Vietnam and WWI and WWII we think we had it hard not any where near to the extent of those guys. I havent even told Jessica stuff, she say I have told her stuff when I was drinking but i dont remember, who knows no telling what i do when i have had a few lol. But like I was saying about the jungle warfare, that will be our issue if we do have to go to war with North Korea, we stopped training for jungle warfare about 8 or 9 years ago so most of the soldiers in today have never trained for it so it will be like starting all over because we completely switched to training specifically for desert and thats it. I appreciate hearing your story about your wifes uncle he seems like he was fun to be around, I ove talking to Vietnam and older war veterans because yo can hear how different things are now and man they got some stories.

I only wish I could help you or anyone with PTSD. Jessica told me you did a surfing program with your fellow vets. You need to around people that have shared experiences. You can confide in them. You need to have a strong will. Don't let it get the better of you. I know you can do this. I'm not the best person to give advice on this. But, more people love you than you know. I feel for all you guys.

I'm here to bring a smile, and to lend an ear. And yeah, that dive had to hurt. I can't swim, so I would never do that. I would drowned on impact. Lol

I went whitewater rafting in West Virginia like 18 years ago. They had a spot that was pretty high to jump in at a break area. My wife did it, but not me. When your boys get older, that would be a great trip for you guys. It's a lot of fun.
