Why is everyone celebrating a failed terrorist today, by the way?

I dont get it either, and we had a big Guy Fawkes bon fire tonight on the beach. We weren't sure what side of history we were on, it was more of a reason to have a fire on the beach and drink hot chocolate and Baileys and beer. I think it was a celebration of a failed plot.
