guns neither save nor take lives. they require human agency. if you place a gun on a table it will remain inert forever. people take lives, people save lives. once a person decides that he is willing to die the only way to stop him is to kill him.

We don't know how many more would have been killed in an enclosed area with an active shooter had another person with a gun not been there, and we will never know how many people have been saved because a good guy with a gun was on scene. One thing we can count on, is most of the time the news wont tell you about it!

Like most of these mass shootings it's like closing the barn door after the horses have run away. Maximum carnage (46 victims out of 50ish churchgoers) and maybe the "good guy" saved some potential victims. Most of the time police take these nuts out, not civilians.
