I once got marked down on a spelling test in grade school because I used the British spelling "colour" instead of the American spelling "color". That's the exact reason the teacher gave me! Racist woman!

I feel your pain! I'm in Australia, same problem.
Although, sometimes it makes the memes even funnier when they have spelling or grammatical errors.

I tend to spell the word good the olde English of Goode. I usually don't get any comments good or bad. Most people just chalk it off to my eccentricity. They either get it or do a Robert Downy face. ;)
