The law has to apply to everyone equally.

That means that no one is exempt from the law. It says nothing about the nature of the law. See "minimum drinking age."

progressive taxation presumes that the property rights of the wealthy are not as sacred as the property rights of the poor and that the values of the majority are superior to the rights of the minority.

The rule of law then opposes legislative discrimination or privilege, persecution or intentional favoritism. The intent of progressive taxation to to punish people for being successful (persecution).

The intent of progressive taxation is to prevent "successful" people from persecuting those who haven't had the same advantages. It doesn't punish success. It incrementally reduces the reward for hoarding wealth.

How is "reducing reward" different from punishment? Since when is hoarding wealth against the law? So people who work hard should not be allowed to enjoy their success? I thought that is what freedom is all about. Is that the American dream? Work hard so you can retire and enjoy life? Where in the constitution is the government given the power to reduce reward for anyone and treat people unequally? Why are poor people given more rights to property than successful people? How are successful people persecuting anyone? How do they have an advantage? These beliefs seem completely delusional to me. Thank you for communicating with me.
