in 1970,the US government was commissioned to investigate and report on the civil upheaval of the 60's.in 1974 (iirc) one of the commissions (the tri-lateral commission,which was considered "liberal") concluded that the reasons for the civil unrest of the 60's,and I quote "was due to an excess of both democracy and education".
by 1978,the entire board of education curriculum had been totally revamped.
now I am not trying to speculate that the US government purposely changed an entire k-12 curriculum in order to better indoctrinate American children to be more docile and complicit to the powers and authority of government institutions.
