Humans have been discovered to have several sets of dna, (The term is chimeric dna) so essentially you have the sexes of these dna's. The sets are usually inherited from your parents and their parents, but stem-cells from a baby can travel back into a mother changing her dna so it also holds the dna of her child. In essence the sum of chimeric dna Means you have a lot of combinations of dna that can be put into your own children, so the sexes sort of blur out.

Gender isn't "important" What matters to the dna is that it gets transferred and assembled, and it doesn't care about how, so as long as two (or more) individuals can transfer it and somehow assemble it it Works. Since the traditional view was that it took a man and a woman we view sex as a twopart system, but in reality your dna consists of many people in a sort of jigsaw puzzle (which is how two White people can get a Black child if one of them had a Black ancestor)
