Because others are walking around, the National Anthem is probably not being played. THESE particular men might be praying. But you still get my point.
Kneel: be in or assume a position in which the body is supported by a knee or the knees, as when praying or showing submission. so they are not protesting ... they are submitting to the national anthem & the american flag
