They use the same tactics as every communist party used when the monarchies collapsed. Buy out the press for propaganda, shout people down until only their voice is heard, and if that fails, incite riots. Then when they get power, they make their own concentration camps (called re-education camps) and suppress all opposition. They're no different than nazis!?!

Some are socialists, some are anarchists, some don't even really answer to a particular party and are just staunch anti-nazis. Even then, considering the fact our political compass as a nation has moved so far to the right, the idea of Stalinists getting into the white house isn't of particular concern to me right now; especially since our current president is a go***amn nazi sympathizer.

Technically speaking in the political spectrum, communism is a far-left ideology, while nazism and fascism are far-right ideologies.

If the spectrum is totalitarianism on the left and zero govt on the right, then they share the same color, because fascism isn't zero govt, it's closer to socialism in it's control.

I never said totalitarianism is on the left. The left side of the political spectrum focuses on the regulation of business and freedom of the people, while the right side of the spectrum focuses on freedom of business and regulation of the people.

I explained my political rainbow - how you define it is up to you. In mine, it's totalitarianism and complete anarchy at the extremes - left side, right side makes no difference, they're neighbors on my spectrum.

Ok. I think we can agree to disagree on our ideas of the political spectrum. I will also give you upvotes for having put thought and reason into your arguments. I enjoy debating with individuals like you. :)

I suppose I could use all caps and sprinkle in profanity, but where does that get us? Besides, if you don't think like I do, that's ok with me, though that's usually one sided. We didn't really argue or debate, you were saying this is one inch, I was saying it was 25.4 mm... Just because the scale is different doesn't make either of us wrong. Upvotes all around!

Not really. Communism is purely an economic ideology, meanwhile genocide and ethnic cleansing are all par for the course with Nazism. To say either of the two are comparable -at least on paper- is absolutely ludicrous.

If any of Stalin's actions or the actions of any totalitarian leader under communism are an inherent part of the ideology, does that mean our own invasions of other countries and mass murders, and rampant poverty are an inherent part of capitalism?

I'm not trying to defend communism, or say that horrible atrocities haven't happened under it, I'm just saying that if you look at it on paper it's not particularly harmful. Where as the atrocities that have happened under the nazis were integral to their ideology.

I'm going to oversimplify, so please forgive me here.

When the socialist revolutions happened and these huge number of people were killed, it wasn't because Stalin (or whomever) was bad necessarily, it was because Stalin was following Marx. Murder is the ideology.

So basically, Marx said you can't have rich people because they'll bribe the system, and you can't have educated middle class people because they'll resist. The only way to exact socialism is through "revolutionary terror", his words.

So yes, mass murder, genocide... Integral to the ideology. Hence the same color of the rainbow.

And I also understand that communism and socialism are two different, though related, things. But people use them interchangeably. Communism to me is like any other religion -great intentions but impossible to implement because people are naturally bad.
