I actually know a guy who was blind from birth and majored in meteorology in college--he graduated high school in 1967 and was able to get a scholarship for handicapped students. The school he went to made clay models of the various things. He got decent grades but when he graduated, of course no one would hire him.
A friend I mentioned that to over a decade later who worked with the County Equal Employment Opportunity program told me, "I think I know that guy! About every 2-3 years he comes to us complaining he's the victim of employment discrimination. We basically tell him he just isn't qualified to do the work, so it's not discrimination, and he leaves pretty annoyed."
I just checked and found an obituary that the meteorologist passed away in April.
