If I remember the words of my religion teacher,Catholic and Orthodox church got seperated because of one letter in the Bible!

When a friend of mine quotes a part from the Bible for a grade,he said a wrong word,on what he(friend) replied:"Aw,c'mon!It's only one word.",on what he(teacher)replied:"Did you know that Catholic and Orthodox church seperated from each other because frmo one LETTER in the Bible?".Now that I think about it,he was probably sarcastic,but still....

Anyways,what's the real reason of their separation?

Maybe your teacher was thinking of the controversy against the Arians around the Council of Nicea in 325AD, where I believe there was a one-letter difference in one of the key terms - "homoousios" vs "homoiousios" (whether to say Jesus Christ is the same substance or a similar substance to God the Father). However, that wasn't a dispute about a Bible word, but rather a word in the formulation of a creed (also, it took place about 7 centuries before the official split between Catholic and Orthodox churches).

Lots of reasons. Without being too technical; but mainly over the authority of the pope (catholics retain and orthodox deny) and the filioque (wording of the nicene creed) and the fact that Greek fell out of favor in the west as a universal language and Latin took over (made it harder to communicate effectively between east and west and retain the same meaning).
