This was once a very conservative Midwestern town.

well it's one shop with a sense of humor. it can still be a very conservative town. and even if it's not as conservative as it's used to be, well, non-conservative Americans are people with all of the rights of conservatives. Conservatives + Liberals + Moderates = America
