I know this is meant to be light-hearted and funny. I get that. Unless you're familiar with the spelling, you can easily hear it as "ass burgers." But having the disease, as I do, it's not fun. It makes my life very difficult. No one understands me. People think I'm weird, strange, sometimes an "asshole." Just please be aware of the sensitivity some people will have who have this disease. I'm not offended. I'm just making you aware, it's not easy to live with.

I actually don't even know anyone who has Asperger's syndrome, but I imagine it's no fun at all. I'm sorry you have it, man. Honestly. And the reason I made the meme was because I seriously thought that was what I was hearing the first time I heard it mentioned in a radio ad.

I'm not upset or "butthurt." It's just that a lot of people don't understand the disorder, and yes, I agree, it sounds funny... but the name has changed, actually. Asperger's is now called "Autism Spectrum Disorder," or ASD.

All seriousness aside, there's a local comic that has Aspergers Syndrome. He's gotten to the point where he'll shake your hand and talk to you. He talks about it in his act. rough life. isn't very successful in a relationship. If he hadn't anchored himself to a comedy troupe, he'd have hit the big time by now.The troupe sucks.

It's. Highly unlikely that you will meet a well adjusted comic. Humor is our survival method. We find the absurd in the mundane and point it out to the public. The public laughs, but for us, it's a survival method.

My sis probably knows more about you than I do. She was a psychiatric nurse. (speciality substance abuse) She once said I was a sex addict. like it was a bad thing.

Fear is my biggest issue. I'm afraid of deep water, high places, wide open spaces, venturing further than 10 miles in either direction from my home, speeding vehicles, thunder/lightning and drugs!

I don't have any of those standard fears anymore. A former girlfriend got me over my fear of heights, so now, when I fly, I love having the window seat. open spaces, tight spaces, the dark? No problem. Spiders? I don't have a panic attack. I usually just squash them with something. I've got other issues. Comes from being #5 in a family of 6 kids

Right now, the issues are due to feeling helpless. had to have my daughter come in today and move some furniture and some cleaning. I have trouble lifting 40 pounds when I used to lift 200 pounds easily. I've been self sufficient most of my life because I had to, with so many people looking to me for support. Now they have to support me. The heart surgery 9 years ago was the beginning, but I persevered, but the stroke in July? I have to use a walker, for crying out loud. My care nurse says I've been through the wringer.
