Ha ha, touché. Really though, this is such a problem in our society. We've made it tremendously difficult for people to survive without crushing debt. I hope more young people will choose not to go the college route if they can't afford to pay for it, get trades and live outside the school-college-office system. We were all told that we had to go to college to be successful, and that we could get a "good job" with any kind of degree and pay back loans easily. If that was once true, it no longer is. The investment is often not worth the return, and indeed could lock you into a cycle of living one paycheck away from financial disaster.

Hmmm, I hope I'm not coming off as bragging. I really want to be a voice for the legitimacy of skipping the debt trap and getting started with life. So many people feel they have no other option but to borrow heavily. I want to be a positive voice, not a negative one. I apologize if it seemed like I was picking a fight.

Feminism is BS, but the problems you listed are universal.

That is the point: people choosing to put themselves in historically lower positions (voluntarily taking on massive debt with the hope of getting a hired as an employee and then not being able to afford to own property as a consequence) and then feeling superior to those who don't. I used June Cleaver because I'm a wife and mother and feel the condescension from supposedly liberated women. The same thing could be done with the image of a tradesman-- self employed, no student loans, homeowner-- yet looked down on by cubicle dwellers. Our society has inverted priorities for everyone.
