i'll wager a good sum of money that so-called dark matter is actually normal matter outside the boundaries of the directly detectable universe. what we see is its gravitic effect on normal matter within the directly detectable universe. but that idea doesn't sound as spooky as what NDT and his posse claim, so he doesn't advertise it.

Is Bill Nye even a scientist, really? I know he has degrees in mechanical engineering, but...

At least N.D. Tyson has a PhD in Astrophysics. Treating Nye as a Scientific authority is about like treating Michael Chiklis as an authority on law enforcement.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of 'authorities' and 'experts' anyway. when i was sixteen, i almost died of appendicitis because an M.D. misdiagnosed it. Nobel Prize winners make big mistakes. If Bill Nye has picked up enough science to make a living at publicizing it, well good for him. but i don't think i'll be treating him as a science authority.
