In case you don't get the LITTLE reference, quantum mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with atoms, PARTS of atoms, etc.

And at that level things are "indeterministic", i.e., given exactly the same conditions you could have several different outcomes and there's no way to determine conclusively which one it will be.
