Spelling: I guess it's important

While I never picked up the lingo, Dad would speak Finnish occasionally. He learned it from his step-dad. My brother married the step-dad's niece (no blood relation) and between the two, taught their kids Finn and Spanish.

Spanish have Latin roots so not too hard to learn if you're fluent in English. Finn is entirely different I imagine.

They both took it in high school, and now he goes down to South America every year or two for his church. I picked up a lot of Spanish working with coworkers that were Hispanic. Yes, I'd say it's probably one of the easiest languages to learn. Easier than English, even. Finnish? Definately different. I watched a comedy program from Finland one time. Thank God it was subtitled. Hilarious, though.
