I think maybe you're deleting too much? Try it without deleting the "https://" part. Just delete the stuff in brackets before the "https://" and after the ".jpg" Don't worry about how it's going to look when it comes out. imgflip deletes the "https://" part automatically when it hot-links it.

Then you delete everything before the second hhtps and everything after (gif)
