I was following a formula - comments is the key...
1. comment on front page memes
2. comment on latest page memes
3. comment on other users' memes that have commented on your memes
4. respond to comments on your comments
And try to make creative quality comments, I like to google search my images to make it unique and fun.

No, that is another user. When I saw the name 'cashmeousside' it gave me inspiration to create this one, figuring it will be funny when we happen to comment together on a meme.

Oh yeah... I used to be "CTX78." You probably wouldn't know that name since I think I had 20 thousand points in a two year period. Lol. Didn't do much but upvote memes back then.

Back then, entertainer had 500,000 and was unreachable...

Yeah, I remember him having 930,000 and in 2nd place toyguytn had 430,000. When I reached the top 100 with this profile I only needed 76 thousand. The site has really changed.

The cashmeousside account (not mine) gave me inspiration to create this one... initially I had more references to Danielle Bregoli but that does wear thin, just like it's hard to create memes only about dragons, after awhile it gets hard to be stuck to one subject.

A little bit of luck helps too... :) My MEMES_KING used to be around 40th but that was back when 120K could get on the top 100. Now MEMES_KING is almost dropping off the top 100 due to inactivity.

True. I think the number to hit was 300k to get on the board when I deleted my old account. I was about 10k short of 200k. Now I'm that much shy of hitting 1 million. But you're right, there's a lot of inactive users. I still can't believe Jeff tims is even on the board, although he's dropped a lot since then. Others are there too, that are inactive as far as public memes go.

I see your point. I should have worded it more carefully. I guess no one really knows anyone here, or they only see what we want them to see. I'd like to change that, but it's a bit overwhelming for one person to do it. I'd like ImgFlip to be more of a community than just a place to post memes. We need to make it safer for people to be a part of imgflip so they can feel comfortable with sharing their identity. Our profiles should allow more individuality and sharing of info, and there needs to be stronger individual controls in case we need to deal with problems. We can bond the community closer together with events, (including virtual events) but some of the user experience parts only imgflip can control, whether they will provide more enhancements and security.
