The impeachment proceedings take place in the House, conviction is decided in the Senate. IIRC it takes a two-thirds vote of the senators as well. Neither of the two presidents that were impeached (Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) were convicted.

Now, as to the "impeach Trump!" crowd's strategy or end game, I have no idea what's rattling around in their empty skulls.

Nope! Clinton was impeached, and remained as president.

Which he wasn't allowed to do. But hey, he's a clinton which mean the law doesn't apply to him like us deplorables.
