According to the blessed Google, Mary descends from the Hebrew Miryam, to the Greek Mariam, and thus Latinized to Maria and on to English Mary. Many white European names are Anglicized biblical names.
I have been writing comedy since Nixon was president. One thing I've learned: What may be obvious to me, is not always obvious to others, moreso with biblical humor. I discovered that a lot of my fans didn't get some of the references when I wrote my parody of the Bible: The Books of SPAM. I don't know how many e-mails I got that said that they actually started reading the bible to get the jokes.
getting people to actually read the bible is a good thing...,

It is a part of our cultural heritage, so it's wise to know something about what's in the covers.

I am a Christian and I was thinking the same thing about the Holy ghost writer lol.
God gave us a sense of humor so I think we should all lighten up a little and laugh.

Not a Christian, so when I have a joke about that religion, I do my introspective thing or prayer, and it's usually on track.
careful, it could be one of those tricks your silly prankster god likes to play. Your humor isn't universal to your faith is it? no.. something you find funny may offend a fellow bible basher and that would be an egregious sin.
its like dinosaurs, gods ultimate joke on us all. ;D

I consider myself to have a relationship with God more that I'm a religious person, So many self proclaimed Christian's do and say some hateful things to others and it sucks. I consider all my fellow Memer's brothers and sisters regardless of their religion or belief. I simply like a good laugh and most of the time I find here so thank you one and all!
