But of course, why would they? Coding in Gen 3 Pokémon will just mean people will rage at not having Gen 4 Pokémon. And then adding those will make a small percentage of the population furious at not having Gen 5 Pokémon. And adding those would remove about 98% of their fanbase due to being Genwunners and people that think playing just Pokémon GO makes them Pokémon fans.
