I've seen the movie and they just tried to clone Ripley (do you see what I'm doing here) but in a bad, dull, stupid, shallow, ridicolous way; simply as that.
This is an empty character, with no charms, useless lines, ridiculous stunts and no background story.
They took a mediocre actress but good looking woman and dressed like Ripley, undressed like Ripley, put her in similar situations... But with a stupid hair cut and no script supporting her role.
The confrontation is... Embarassing.
