Exactly what happens. I make something that I'm sure will get points and comments and it bombs. Submit something I held back for a few days because I think it's goofy, and it does awesome.

I made page 2 after about three weeks here but I think my first front pager took about 4 months. I think this one is on the way:)

If you ever have trouble with Meme ideas, get a joke book that was published between 1930 and 1980. Pretty much ignore ethnic jokes, but there are jokes in there so old that most people alive today have not heard them, or, if they had, it's been years/decades. You may have to make them a bit more contemporary, but updating a joke is common practice. I've used the Old Farmers Almanac for some of my memes.

Get the old, back issues although you can go as recent as the 90s. I've got a much of old Sex to Sexty books that I scanned in. Can't use a lot of them here, nor can I use some of the Playboys I have, but they give me ideas to work with.

I rarely use the standard templates. Look through the last month or so and seeing one of the featured templates as a submission, for me, is unusual. My cousin never uses the standard templates. He joined last year, posted a few times, then left. Came back in January, posted a meme that he had made before leaving, and it went to page one.

Yeah, you're right. Custom templates are usually a lot funnier than the standard ones.

Ive finally gotten a a few fp after 9 months. Its about being active in the community or making really good shit lol. I try to do both but i work out of service or drive all day so its hard. 2 fp congrats!

It's a great feeling - in imgflip terms I am seven months old. One of my memes a while ago got 65 upvotes but I didn't see it get to the front page ( if, of course, it did). One of my more recent ones got to the front page and had 240 upvotes. Treasure the moment.

I would never have guessed so many, but you should check out a gif by Crotchgoblin that was the only submission ever to get over 500 upvotes. I know, I've got no idea either!
